Squirrels News - 17th December 2021

We have had a wonderful last week of term in the Squirrels classroom. The children loved decorating the classroom and particularly enjoyed taking turns to re-decorate the christmas tree again and again. We even put a festive bow on the fish tank to make sure no one was left out of the celebrations!

Our Role Play Area has been transformed into Santa's workshop where the children have worked hard to go through all of Santa's letters and to make sure all the presents were wrapped in time for Christmas. It was a big hit with the children who loved being Santa's helpers and in some cases Santa's reindeer!

In Art, the children worked extremely hard to put the finishing touches on the Christmas gifts for their parents. We have been so impressed by how much love and care they have poured into the gifts they made and the special words they wrote. In other areas of the classroom we have played various games to support our memory, team work and number recognition skills. We also developed our understanding of initial letter sounds, practised writing numbers and developed our number recognition by opening our story book advent calendar daily. The highlight of the week however was our Nativity show. The children worked incredibly hard to remember all of their lines and learn the songs and we were so impressed with their performance. On the day the children showed so much confidence on stage and sung with gusto to the applause of the audience. It was a truly lovely end to the term and we are wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
